Flight Planning App for Pilots and Student Pilots
Flight Target is online flight planning software for airplane pilots and student pilots. Bring route planning, aviation weather, airspace maps, aircraft calculations and preflight preparation together in one browser-based platform.
Enter your route, select a supported aircraft and provide the flight and loading data. Flight Target automatically calculates navigation, time, fuel, weight and balance, and available takeoff and landing performance results from those inputs. Use PLAN / NAV to prepare your flight, FLIGHT to follow position and route information, and WEATHER to explore conditions.
Aviation Weather, Navigation and Airspace Maps
Review METAR, TAF, SPECI and SIGMET information where reports are available. Check airport observations, terminal forecasts, special weather reports and significant weather advisories alongside your flight planning workflow.
Explore weather at route points, including wind direction and speed, temperature, pressure, humidity, visibility, rain and cloud conditions, with gusts where reported. Review winds aloft and weather map layers where available, plus sunrise and sunset times and magnetic variation (magnetic declination) for navigation calculations.
Use the map to explore aerodromes, VFR routes, low- and high-level IFR airways and RNAV routes. Airspace layers include control zones (CTR), terminal control areas (TMA), control areas (CTA), and prohibited, restricted and danger areas. Coverage and detail depend on the available data for each location.
VFR and IFR Route Planning
Build a multi-leg flight route with airports, checkpoints and waypoints. Enter route points, select them on the map, move or delete them, and subdivide legs when preparing a cross-country flight. Add an alternate aerodrome to calculate the onward route.
Prepare a navigation log and operational flight plan using cruise altitude, cruise power, departure time and applicable climb and descent inputs. Review distance in nautical miles, true course, magnetic heading, compass heading, wind correction, estimated time enroute (EET), estimated time of arrival (ETA) and fuel required for each leg.
Weight and Balance, Fuel and Aircraft Performance
Enter aircraft loading and fuel information to calculate aircraft weight and balance, total weight and total moment. Combine loading calculations with fuel planning, climb, cruise and descent information when preparing the operational flight plan.
Calculate takeoff distance and landing distance for supported aircraft models and the available performance tables. Aircraft-specific tools include Cessna 150L, Cessna 172 and Cessna 182T planning, alongside a general-aircraft navigation workflow. Available calculations vary by model and require the appropriate aircraft and flight inputs.
Pilot Briefing and Operational Flight Plan
Organize preflight preparation with the 5P checklist: Plan, Plane, Pilot, Passengers and Programming. Review aircraft checklists, normal and emergency procedures, passenger safety briefing and radio and navigation setup.
Use pilot risk assessment tools, the I'M SAFE (IMSAFE) checklist and a risk assessment matrix to support aeronautical decision-making. Enroute reference tools include the 3P model (Perceive, Process, Perform), the PAVE checklist and route checks.
Flight Navigation, Direct-To and Course Deviation
The FLIGHT screen brings GPS position, ground speed, track and available altitude together with route information. Review distance, EET and ETA to waypoints, select FROM or TO, and use a course deviation indicator (CDI) to display lateral deviation from the selected course.
Choose a direct-to point by its identifier or on the map. Position panels also display matching airspace information based on available position, altitude and airspace data. These tools support situational awareness; they are not a replacement for certified navigation equipment or current official information.
Aviation AI for Flight Manuals and Aeronautical Documents
Ask aviation questions using the flight manuals and aeronautical PDFs indexed in Flight Target. The aviation AI assistant retrieves relevant passages and shows the document, chapter and page references available for its answer.
The document library can be expanded with aircraft Pilot's Operating Handbooks (POH), Aircraft Flight Manuals (AFM), training handbooks and aeronautical regulations. ICAO documents, the Chicago Convention, ICAO Annexes, Latin American Aeronautical Regulations (LAR) and U.S. aviation regulations (14 CFR) can be consulted when the relevant documents have been added and indexed. Not every document is necessarily available yet.
If the indexed documents do not provide enough information, the assistant should say so. Always verify aircraft-specific limitations, procedures, applicability and document revision against the current official source.
ICAO and FAA Flight Plan Forms
Prepare ICAO and FAA flight plan forms, general declarations, passenger manifests and cargo manifests using the forms available in the platform. These are preparation tools, not a claim that a flight plan has been filed with an authority or accepted by air traffic services.
Pilot Reference Tools and Airport Reports
Look up aviation terms in the aeronautical dictionary, use unit conversion calculators, and review meteorological symbols, transponder codes and emergency radio references. Applicability of codes and procedures depends on the region and operating rules.
Airport and route reporting tools allow users to report observed runway conditions, taxiway closures, obstacles or fuel-service issues. User reports complement planning information and do not replace official NOTAMs or airport notices.
Flight Planning Questions
Who is Flight Target designed for?
Flight Target is designed for airplane pilots and student pilots preparing general aviation and training flights, particularly those who want route, weather, navigation and aircraft calculations in one online workflow.
Are flight planning calculations automatic?
Yes. After you enter the required route, aircraft, flight and loading inputs, the platform calculates the supported results automatically. You remain responsible for checking the inputs, aircraft model, applicable performance data and operational limitations.
Can I plan both VFR and IFR flights?
Flight Target includes VFR, IFR and RNAV route-planning references, waypoints and alternate planning. Available route and airspace data vary by location; verify current charts, AIP information and NOTAMs before flight.
Does the aviation AI have every aviation PDF?
No. Answers depend on the documents currently loaded and indexed. The library can grow as manuals and regulatory PDFs are added; the assistant provides source references from the material it actually uses.
